DESCRIPTION
The Alfa Romeo 105/115 series Coupés were built from 1963 until 1977. They were the successors to the celebrated Giulietta Sprint coupé and used the shortened floor-pan from the Giulia saloon car. The basic body shape, shared by all models, was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro for Bertone. It was one of his first major projects for Bertone and is often regarded as one of his finest commercial projects. It borrowed heavily from his earlier design for the Alfa Romeo 2000 Sprint/2600 Sprint. The balance of glass and metal, the influence of the shape of the front and rear glass on the shape of the cabin and the flat grille with incorporated headlamps were all considered ground-breaking styling features for the era.
Built in 1972, this GT Junior 1600 is finished in white with black vinyl interior, which appears to be remarkably original, even down to having its Motorola radio still in situé.In 1999 extensive body repairs were carried out by respected Alfa Romeo specialists, The Highwood Motor Company, of Swansea. These repairs included replacing both door skins, outer sills and rear arches. Invoices detailing the work carried out by Highwood accompany the history file. Some light engine work was carried out by Mechanical Overload in 2009, which took the form of skimming & de-coking the cylinder head & reseating the valves. Throughout its life, this car has been maintained by marque specialists including, Classic Alfa and Alfa Servizio and this year the current vendor treated the car to a full respray which was undertaken by Bodycraft of Bideford - On - Avon.
With a detailed history file and the odometer showing an unconfirmed 29,803 miles, this little Alfa benefits from extensive body work repairs allowing for worry free (rust free!) Alfa Romeo ownership!
