1972 BMW 2002 Touring

The 2002 was introduced a couple of years after the 1502/1602 and was a logical expansion of the 02-Series range, cementing the series' reputation as the car to beat in the sporting saloon sector. The 2.0-litre engine was essentially a bored out version of the old 1.8-litre M10 unit, producing 100bhp in standard form. Powerful and agile, the “02” cars soon built up a huge following and set new standards for small cars. They were the weapon of choice for many enthusiastic drivers and competed with great success in touring car races in many countries.The 'Touring' version with its hatch back was a practical Q-car, and is the one to have today and very scarce.

This BMW 2002 Touring is in fantastic condition and is a little gem having covered only 65,000 miles with 3 owners from new (one family from new until 2011). The body work is very solid with no rust and has previously had two new wings. The paintwork is in good order and the colour is rare. All the chrome is in good condition and this car was put on display at classic car shows by its owner. The car also benefits from a Webasto roof which is lovely to have open and drive the country roads, the car handles so well. BMW had it right even back in 1972.
