SUMMARY

Based on a steel monocoque/backbone centre section and using XJ6 mechanicals, the Triple C Challenger is clothed with a Jaguar-approved accurate fibreglass body moulded from a real 3.8 E-Type Series I Roadster.

DESCRIPTION

  • An E-Type replica that was manufactured by Triple C from 1985 to 1992 with the approval of Jaguar. Using moulds taken from a Series 1 3.8, it is dimensionally accurate and later cars used Jaguar engines and suspension. Instrumentation and brightwork are also Jaguar sourced
  • In addition to affordability, other advantages over the original include less corrosion with a glass fibre body and galvanised chassis, improved braking using XJ6 components, better cruising and fuel economy with overdrive or 5-speed gearboxes and more modern electrical systems
  • This smart example is based on a powder-coated XJ6 floorpan with a 4.2-litre Jaguar straight-six and 5-speed manual gearbox
  • The subject of much work; glass-out, trim-out respray. Five new chrome wire wheels
  • Front running gear totally stripped, sand blasted and rebuilt with stainless steel nuts and bolts, new gaiters, ball joints, callipers etc.
  • Total off-car, rear axle re-build with four new 28-stage adjustable Spax, new springs, new brake discs/callipers and pads
  • New head gasket and crankshaft seals, new oil pump fitted, new camshaft bearing cups
  • Unleaded cylinder head, new electronic ignition, polished rocker covers and water housing, twin SU carbs, new clutch master and slave cylinders, new alternator, new fuel sender unit, New AED (automatic enrichment device (choke))
  • Brand new black mohair soft top recently fitted
  • Just 16,829 miles since the build. Registered correctly as a 1972 Jaguar on the V5
  • This is a very good replica in terms of looks and driving, and benefits from a bit more space between the seats
