Remarks
This was bought new as a company car for my grandmother in 1974. She used it to collect me from school on occasions and it did a weekly trip to the hairdressers and the supermarket on a Friday, as they did in the 70’s. The car has lived a very easy life, always garaged from the day it was delivered. As a 6-year-old boy, I asked “Can I have your car when you die gran!” (as only a 6-year-old would), she laughed and said “Ok – I’d like you to enjoy it once I’m gone”. My gran gave me the car when she was still alive as she had decided to stop driving due to eyesight decline, but she also wanted to see me enjoy the car. Before the car was gifted to me, she had it sent away for a restoration to address areas of surface corrosion that were common on these cars in the day. It eventually ended up as a full glass out respray (as shown in the attached paperwork) and underbody Waxoyl and this is what you still see today. The paintwork is of a very high standard considering its age. In my 20’s( I’m now 51) I used to use the car on dry sunny days for occasional use, then as I got older and bought a house and had a family, the car remained in my father’s car collection in a large purpose built insulated garage which has kept the car in exceptional condition despite not tuning a wheel for circa 20 years. In 2023, my father was downsizing so I brought the car out of storage and set about the recommissioning, it only required and new fuel tank, fuel pump, tyres and brakes all round, change all the fluids and filters, a pair of batteries and new plugs and leads. I removed the old plugs and squirted a bit of WD40 into the bores and then turned the engine over using a socket on the end of the crank and left it overnight. The following day I turned the engine over on the starter motor until I saw good oil pressure, popped the new plugs in and she fired up on the first turn! A good polish, MOT and this is what you see before you – an honest useable classic car with a great back story. She is now ready for the next owner who has the time and space to keep her in a warm dry garage and stretch her legs every now and then.
