1973 Porsche 914 S 2 litre Targa

Needing a replacement for the 912, Porsche worked in collaboration with Volkswagen to produce the 914, with the resulting model being launched in 1969. With excellent weight distribution and superb structural rigidity it was said to equal a 911 coupe despite being a Targa. The 1.7 engine fitted to early cars was criticised for lacklustre performance leading to a more powerful 'S' version with a 2.0 litre engine being offered for 1973. Sales continued until 1976 when the model was replaced by the 924.

This particular early 2.0 fuel injected 'S' model, with its 5 speed dog leg gearbox, is finished in its original colour of L80E Light Ivory with black leatherette trim and is in superb condition throughout. The vendor informs us that the battery tray has been replaced but other than that all panels are original and free from corrosion. All trim is also original and has none of the usual cracks on the dash or door trims normally associated with this particular model Porsche.

Importantly this car has the very desirable appearance package consisting of: 15'' fuch wheels, five bolt hubs, leather covered gear knob, and a centre console comprising of clock, voltmeter, oil and temperature gauge.
