1974 Alfa Romeo 2000 GTV

The car we are pleased to offer for sale here today is a former South African car sourced and shipped to the UK in 1995. It found a privateer owner in 1999 who was prepared to invest more than £13,000 toward the restoration of this vehicle in the first three years of his ownership. This included the professional engine and gearbox rebuild in 2000 which has travelled just 3000 miles since.

Unfortunately for the then owner, his business hit hard times and the restoration went on hold. Time passed, and eventually it became apparent that he would not be able to continue. The car passed to the garage that had begun the work, Alfa Man of Park Royal, London. Here it remained for a close to 12 years before being acquired by our vendor in October of 2013.

Upon new ownership the restoration restarted in gusto with a more than 500 hour rebuild being embarked. The work that had been completed had been done to a good standard, but 12 years of standing meant many aspects had to be re-addressed. The body was stripped to bare metal, painted to a very high standard and the whole car reassembled with all-new interior. With the engine and gearbox rebuilt just 3,000 miles ago a complementing electronic ignition was fitted for ease of use and the car returned to the road a handful of months ago. The car benefits from a few additional tuning enhancements including GTA trumpets on the carburettors and a sports exhaust which emits a glorious sound. The brakes and suspension have been equally overhauled as the rest of the car which is now fully tested and behaving itself as you would expect from one of Alfa Romeo's greatest success stories. This charming Alfa in exemplary order is now ready for the road looking resplendent with GTA type replica wheels and the correct badging to complete the styling.

The Alfa GTV - and particularly the 2.0litre variants - offer the classic car enthusiast a great "all-round' ownership experience.
