1975 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce 2000

The Alfa Romeo Spider was produced from 1966 to 1993. It is widely regarded as a design classic and it remained in production for almost three decades with only minor aesthetic and mechanical changes.

1971 saw the Spider Veloce get a new, larger power plant - a 1962cc unit - and consequently the name was changed from '1750 Spider Veloce' to '2000 Spider Veloce'. The 1600 Spider restarted production a year later and emerged as the 'Spider 1600 Junior', it was in fact visually identical to the 1300. The 1300 and 2000 cars were modified in 1974 and 1975 respectively to include two small seats behind the front seats, thus becoming a "two plus two" .

This lovely example for sale here is offered fresh from an extensive 2 year restoration. It was stripped to the bare shell and put on a "rotisserie' where all the old paint, filler and corrosion was removed before being repainted in the very eye catching Alfa Romeo Le Mans blue. The car was then put back together with any parts that were too worn, replaced or rebuilt.

The previous owner was a BBC director who bought the car in 1999 and the bill of sale from the garage can be seen in the superb history file. This file also includes receipts for all parts and costs for the restoration, along with history from the previous owner that shows expenditures of over £12,000 in the last 11 years. When the previous owner purchased the car the car mileage was showing just 66,000. In 2003 he had engine rebuilt at 70,000 miles and the clock is now showing just 77,000 miles.

So having covered just over 10,000 miles since 1999 and with a full engine rebuild, body and suspension restoration, this car is ready to be fully enjoyed in the summer months.
