SUMMARY
A rare UK-supplied, right-hand drive example of these long-legged, four-seat GTs benefitting from recent expenditure.
DESCRIPTION
At the Paris Auto Salon in 1972, Ferrari unveiled an all-new car to the world. It was a fast, svelte and elegant 2+2 powered by their legendary VI2 engine, and was the most expensive series produced by Ferrari for 17 years. The initial model was the 365 GT4 2+2, which was later followed by the 400 and 412 series, and with manufacture ceasing in 1989, these four-seaters enjoyed the longest production run of any Ferrari model. The 365 GT4 2+2 is easily distinguished from its successors by its six rear tail lights, knock-off alloy wheels, and lack of a front spoiler and was produced between 1972 and 1976. Production totalled 521 cars and just 133 of these were right-hand drive. The bodies were built and fully trimmed at the Pininfarina works in Turin, and then shipped to the Ferrari factory in Maranello for the installation of the mechanical components. Under the bonnet, Ferrari squeezed in a 4.4-litre V12 unit producing 340bhp at 7000rpm resulting in the world's most potent full four-seater at the time. Despite its 1,450 kilos, the car galloped from 0 to 60 mph in just 6.4 seconds on its way to nearly 155 mph.
This fabulous example of the rare 365 GT4 front-engined V12 Ferrari, Chassis number '#18093' is fitted with a manual gearbox and was supplied new by H.R. Owen Ltd. to its first lucky owner, a Mr P.B. Wright, of Greenock, Renfrewshire, prior to being first registered on the16th October 1975.
It's finished in Nero with a remarkably bright Red leather interior and Bordeaux carpets and, according to our vendor, it's one of just two UK right-hand drive cars to be finished in this colour combination. After little use over the past few years, it's just had a light overhaul and a full brake service and will have a fresh MOT for the sale.
Currently indicating 64,647 miles, it's supplied with the original Ferrari service book /Warranty Card, owners manual, operating handbook, spare parts catalogue and the original Ferrari tan wallet with a small number of invoices inside going back to 1980.
