DESCRIPTION
The Lamborghini Urraco (which meant little bull) had a 2+2 configuration and hinted at Lamborghini's grand touring roots. Its sinister styling suggested its ties to the Miura and, from 1974, the Countach. Its fresh V8 engine meanwhile hinted that the Urraco was a new type of Lamborghini altogether. The most developed Urraco was the P300, of which 205 were made from 1975 to 1979. The P300's engine had a larger stroke than other models, upping displacement to 2,996cc and providing 265bhp at 7,800rpm and 195ft-lbs of torque at 5,750rpm. The P300 could reach speeds of 155mph.
We are informed by the vendor that this early P300 Urraco was supplied new by Knitter Automobile of Essen in Germany in November of 1975. The over-square all alloy V8 is a real screamer, petulantly snarling out enough grunt to shove the 1100kg Lambo to 150 mph. The vendor informs us the engine is leak free with all fluids to level and a very healthy oil pressure at all times. It has been converted to run on unleaded and other work since 2005 includes a carburettor and ignition overhaul, a major service, alloy wheel refurbishment and the fitting of an Ansa exhaust box.
The bodywork is in superb order throughout and the shut lines are all consistent too. Inside, the cabin, seats, carpets, door trims and dashboard are all in remarkable condition. The body-hugging fishnet Recaros provide superb support for the enthusiastic driver and are themselves in superb order.
The car is complete with all its tools, factory original wallet, handbook and service book. The vendor informs us there are receipts and invoices totalling over £15000 with a marque specialist and the car is MOT'd until February 2014. Interestingly this particular car was subject to an Octane magazine feature on seventies supercars in 2007 and it makes you realise you are driving something that is so much more than a means of transport, each drive is an event in itself.
(Please note car does not come with number plate in picture and has been asigned registration number BBH 549P).
