DESCRIPTION
Since the prototype was unveiled in 1963, the Porsche 911 has gone on to become perhaps the most famous sports car of all time. A classically Germanic blend of engineering excellence and austerely beautiful design, it remains to this day perhaps the only supercar that can be reliably used every day. In 1973 it had already been 10 years since the 911 was first introduced and the spirit of the 911 was as alive as ever. This year brought some major innovations, like the characteristic shock-absorbing bumpers, the 'ducktail' and 'whale-tail' and a completely galvanized body. In the same year, one of the most influential models in the 911 history was introduced: the Carrera RS. Although in 1973 the 'E', 'T' and 'S' had a 2.4 engine, the RS had a tuned engine with a bigger bore, making for 2681cc of displacement. A year later the new models (G-series) would be equiped with a detuned version of this 2.7 engine. The 2.7 S was produced in lower numbers in Europe than in America, despite the fact that engine output was 25 bhp higher. Even fewer Right-Hand Drive examples were sold and the example on offer today is one of the few survivors. First delivered to a Mr D Ballie of Glasgow on 20th September 1975, this early chrome S model boasts a lovely history, including the original stamped maintenance records from 1975 to 1980. There are even original Blaupunkt radio manuals and warrantees in the service wallet. Subject to significant recent expenditure, NCS 290P has had only three previous owners, the last from 1976 to 2010. Recent work has included new exhaust, new carpets, new fuel tank, pump, filter, lines, metering unit and injectors. In addition, the car sits proudly on new Fuchs wheels and new tyres. Supplied with an MoT until June 2014, this delightful Porsche is presented in white with excellent black interior and is a car than can genuinely be used every day.
