1976 Ford Capri 1.6L

This stylish and iconic 1976 Ford Capri MKII 1600L is a credit to its owner. Resplendent in White with a Black vinyl roof, it has been owned by this proud Club Member since September 2007 purchased, as it was, with just 18,089 miles on the clock. It was recently MoT'd with just 20,654 genuine miles recorded. Records show the Capri was first registered on 15/12/1976 and purchased from Broadway Motors of Wantage by Mr D Austin. In January 1978 it was sold to a Mr F. Southam for £2,445 and bought from R C Woods Car Sales of Hounslow, with 13,764 miles on the clock. From this time to November 1993 the Capri had only covered 4,200 miles, with Mr Southam still the owner. There is no history from November 1993 MoT which recorded 17,964 miles until November 2007 MoT, which recorded 18,099 miles. Our vendor had no reason to believe this was not genuine due to the condition of the car meaning it had travelled just 135 miles in 14 years and had apparently been garaged all that time.In excellent original condition, perhaps the secret to the longevity of this car can be attributed to the Capri being Ziebart rustproofed in December 1976 with just 75 miles on the clock. The original paperwork shows evidence of this having been completed and the treatment extends to under the bonnet. In the last 6 years of ownership the Capri has only been used to travel to classic car shows and it spends all other time garaged under a breathable cover. The vendor tells us that it always receives more than its fair share of admiring glances and comments, leading to many prizes from such events as the National Mk.II Register Days, including 3rd Place in 2009, bettering to 2nd Place in 2010 and 1st Prize in 2011 and 2012, retiring from its show career after this. Apart from yearly maintenance as you'd expect, the rear boot struts have been re-gassed, it has been shod with five new tyres, fitted with Rostyle steel wheels acid dipped and powder coated and a new steering rack fitted. All the panels and underneath are solid and never been welded, the vinyl roof is in excellent condition and the interior described as "immaculate'.Sold as you would expect with V5C registration certificate and valid MoT, this special Capri is also offered with a spare pair of unused headlamps, complete set of brakes, replacement original bulb kit and spark plugs, Owners manuals (various), tailored waterproof and breathable cover and nearside wing mirror.
