In 1978 Porsche introduced their new version of the 911, it was called the '911SC'. It featured a 3.0-litre six cylinder engine with Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection and a 5-speed 915 transmission. Originally, power output was 180bhp, later 188bhp and then in 1981 it was increased to 204bhp.In 1978 Porsche introduced their new version of the 911, it was called the '911SC'. It featured a 3.0-litre engine six cylinder engine with Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection and a 5-speed 915 transmission. Originally, power output was 180bhp, later 188bhp and then in 1981 it was increased to 204bhp.This very early SC was registered on the 1st of January 1978 and Manufactured in October 1977. Finished in its wonderfully period original colour of Lindgrun Green Metallic with Mackenzie dress tartan interior, it has covered a documented 92,000 miles from new. There are stacks of MoT certificates dating back to 1981 that verify this mileage. The matching numbers engine was rebuilt in 1996 by the previous owner. Everything was gone over including: valves, rings, clutch and there are bills from both Autofarm and Blackpool Road and Rally Centre for the work completed. Since then, the car has covered only 5000 miles. The current owner acquired this 911 SC in March 2009 after it had been sat in storage for over ten years. He embarked upon a huge recommissioning project on the car. The fuel injection system was fully rebuilt by Porsche specialists BS Motorsport. The CDU electrical system was rebuilt by BBA Remain. The brakes were rebuilt with new discs, pads and callipers. In addition, the car was resprayed with new sills, inner and outer kidney bowls, jacking points and front wings. The respray in the original colour was a windows out, doors off job and took over 6 weeks. In total, the current owner has spent over £13,000 for recent works. The car is supplied with an MoT until August 2014 and has been kept in a warm garage since completion. The vendor even took the car to the Le Mans Classic in 2012 and reported no issues other than racing Ferrari Dinos. With prices of all 911s on the march, it would seem that the SC model offers the best of both worlds. On one hand it has the classic looks and feel of earlier models and on the other, it offers a certain level of refinement and usability lacking in pre-impact bumper models.
