1978 Chevron B38 Classic Formula 3 Racing Car

The golden era of Formula 3 was perhaps the late 70s/early 80s when British manufacturers dominated the category with innovative and ground breaking design and technology. Chevron Cars were a key manufacturer during this time and designer, Derek Bennett, was a competitive entrant in British and European Formula 3 with his design spearheading the company's attack and achieving some 20 outright wins with the B38.

Drivers of the day included Derek Daly taking the BP Championship in the UK and Elio de Angelis winning the equivalent Italian series.

This car is chassis number 38-77-19 indicating it was built by the factory in 1977 and was the 19th chassis produced that year out of a total run of 28.

The car is presented with its FIA registration and papers, a rebuilt Toyota Novamoto (which is a 2.0 litre 4 cylinder reliable power plant) and a Hewland 5 speed gearbox.

The car was recently raced in the UK Classic F3 series just 3 or 4 times and then the engine was professionally rebuilt and it has not raced since.

It is now prepared and ready with correct specification and papers to enter the popular UK Historic Formula 3 series and could prove to be a winner once more, in the right hands.
