SUMMARY

UK-supplied, rare and collectible two-keeper 260Z with just 29,600 miles and sensibly estimated.

DESCRIPTION

As emission controls increasingly diluted the 240Z's performance, Nissan sought to restore some of that lost power by stroking the engine out to 2,565cc from 2,393cc, boosting output to 162bhp. It retained the classic good looks of its smaller engined predecessor and the model's appeal was broadened with the addition of automatic transmission and a 2+2 model based on a longer wheelbase platform with a higher roofline to increase cabin space.

This exceptional example is finished in the rarely seen Wine Red Metallic (611) with a black cloth interior. It was supplied new by C. Ward Garages Ltd, the Datsun main dealer in Stevenage, on 24th August 1978 to its first of only two keepers, a Mr Donald Stewart of Palace Place Mansions, Kensington and pleasingly, the original Bill of Sale for £6,263 less a trade-in allowance for a Triumph TR7 remains in the car's history file. The file also contains the V5C, eight old MOT Certificates, an invoice for the first service by C. Ward with a matching stamp in the book, the original service book with four stamps, the last at 24,191 miles in October 1992, a copy of the original enquiry for a 260Z responded to by Datsun of Baker Street dated July 1978 and an original sales brochure with this car believed to be on the front cover

The second custodian acquired this special 'Z' car in 2015 and commenced a sympathetic recommissioning, returning the car to top form. The file contains numerous receipts for parts etc. including a bespoke stainless steel exhaust built by him to finish it off.

This 260Z represents a rare opportunity to own one of these iconic Japanese sports cars in a rare colour with just 29,600 miles from new. Sensibly estimated, we encourage your inspection at the NEC Sale.
