SUMMARY
An original 1978 RS Mexico that's been re-shelled and fully restored.
DESCRIPTION
- First registered on 01/09/1978, RS Mexico #GCATUM04430 eventually needed extensive bodywork repairs
- The decision was taken by our vendor to re-shell the car and, as Mexico shells were not available, a standard left-hand drive Mk 2 shell was sourced, prepared and painted
- In our vendor's words "Re-shelled with a mint Ford Shell, all genuine-no welding was required, only to fit RS parts, to make the standard shell RS-spec I welded all the strength parts over, like for like"
- The 2-litre Pinto engine was fully rebuilt with a road cam, twin 40 Webers, new electric distributor, large header tank, and a quick-shift gearbox with a single-piece prop
- Further modifications/upgrades include electric power steering, bigger Princess brakes, rear Bilstein shocks, standard front RS struts
- Fully retrimmed and finished with the correct Mexico details, as you can see from the images, the results are very impressive
- The odometer read 73,536 at the time of cataloguing and the car has a fresh MOT until June 2024 issued with no advisories
