SUMMARY

With a bespoke GTD40 ladder frame, 250bhp Ford 'small-block' V8, 5-speed gearbox, rose-joints and coil-overs, topped by most of a Mini Countryman, this unique V8 Pick-Up is really rather special.

DESCRIPTION

  • GT Developments were the best known and most respected builders of GT40 Replicas in the UK in the late 1990s and had the necessary facilities and talented engineers to make an excellent job of it
  • In 1994, to demonstrate their variety of skills, this remarkable 'Mini' was built for the company's owner, Ray Christopher and was extensively magazine (and latterly) internet-featured
  • The bespoke ladder frame chassis from their GT40 replica was modified to accept the bodywork from a Mini Estate (Countryman) with the rear half of the roof and floor removed and now looking similar to a Mini Pick-up
  • The Ford small-block 5-litre V8 and 5-speed gearbox sit where the flat bed would have been, sending around 300bhp to the rear wheels which nestle under enormous aluminium and fibreglass arches
  • Suspension is by adjustable rose joints with coil-overs and the brakes feature aluminium hubs and vented discs
  • Finished in Bright Red over a competition-style interior with a roll cage, black leather bucket seats with Luke harnesses, alloy dashboard and a fire extinguisher
  • Recent recommissioning included a gearbox rebuild, new pedal box, new carbs, rear callipers and more totalling c.£15,000
  • Truly a one-off. If you are the 'shy and retiring' type, this may not be for you
