DESCRIPTION
The Ferrari 308 GTB and GTS has long been overlooked by Supercar standards but for no good reason. Actually, what makes these cars "Super' is less their performance (particularly when measured against modern standards) but actually their usability and charm. The GTS in particular offering open-top or closed-cabin driving provides the best of both worlds in a car which is almost ideally suited to just about every journey! Country lanes or Kensington High St, from the cockpit of the Ferrari 308 you're equally equipped to manage either...
A host of invoices and corroborating service stamps accompany the car evidencing consistent care at sensible intervals. This is backed up by the original service book showing the car supplied in Huddersfield on 1st January 1979 and the MoT mileage record showing that this car has been used, but not abused as you'd expect from a car which on average has travelled fewer than 2,000miles per year. From March 1982 at 11,847 miles to August 2010 at 55,194 miles the complete MoT's corroborate the mileage, with the car now showing fewer than 60,000. Seemingly always appreciated, much of the car's history dates from a period of ownership from 2001 to 2007 in Sale, Manchester, before passing to another privateer owner in 2007 and our vendor in October 2009.
Forming part of a collection of cars this Ferrari was always earmarked as a high-day and holiday Sunday-driver; however, it has actually seen little use in his care until now. In anticipation of sale, the car was submitted to QV London to ensure all is in tip-top order as we can confirm. An invoice from May 2014 issued by QV London for £3,400 evidences maintenance works to include a reconditioned starter motor, replacement fuel pipe from drivers side tank and the fitment of a new filter. A repair to the front exhaust manifold, replacement of both cam tensioner bearings, full 6,000 mile service, the set and balance of the carburettors, all necessary checks for misfires, leads and plug faults, plus the supply and fitment of a new boot cover. Finally, a fresh battery and final road test mean that we can sell this car with full mechanical confidence.
What is plain to see however is that the car is unmolested and original. As such, after 35 years and near to 60,000miles the new owner may wish to address the interior, and in particular the leather seats which would benefit from a deep leather feed, or at the very worst, a retrim. The remainder of the car however is very pleasing making this 308 a sensible choice to join the modern-classic Ferrari ranks before prices prohibit...
Offered with UK V5C and valid MoT test to certificate, don't let this Ferrari get away...
