1982 Bentley Mulsanne

The new Bentley Mulsanne promised to epitomise the very spirit of Bentley motoring by offering ample performance combined with complete comfort. It achieved this in spades which is perhaps why the Mulsanne variant continued in one guise or another for more than 12 years of production. Its name was derived from the manufacturers racing roots which saw five victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans between 1924 and 1930, the "Mulsanne Straight' being the stretch of the circuit where cars reach their highest speeds. The Mulsanne shared the traditional 6.75 litre Rolls-Royce V8 with aluminium alloy cylinder heads, two SU carburettors and a 3-speed automatic transmission.

The lovely Bentley Mulsanne offered here today was first registered in August 1982 sporting the Forest Green coloured coachwork and light beige interior piped in green which it still sports now. The car is accompanied by all its correct manufacturer handbooks and a well stamped service book of no fewer than 9 insertions from 1,910 miles in December 1982, to 49,397 in 2006. The car was then laid up for a period before entering the large private collection of our vendor where it has been maintained by his mechanics, and used only occasionally. The mileage now is just 50,708 and the Bentley is offered with a fresh MoT with no advisories.
