SUMMARY

A wonderful example of Vauxhall’s rightfully lauded but seldom seen, first-generation hot hatch.

DESCRIPTION

  • In the early 1980s, the Astra GTE marked Vauxhall’s first foray in to the relatively new hot hatch segment which proved very successful
  • Offering 115bhp from a revvy, naturally aspirated 1,796cc, four-cylinder with a 5-speed manual gearbox
  • This Polar White Mk1 cosmetically benefits from a respray and meticulous babying to ensure its condition remains wonderful
  • Showing no former keepers on the logbook, this is a fabulous opportunity to acquire the brilliantly nostalgic genesis of Vauxhall’s hot hatch
  • Whilst the Golf GTi may have stolen the headlines in the 80s, the Astra delivered great value and great performance
  • It's supplied with its original history file, the service book and a plethora of bills and invoices
  • With so many GTEs falling into the wrong hands, this coveted car was certainly kept under lock and key and doesn't it show
