1986 Ford Sierra RS Cosworth

The Ford Sierra RS Cosworth was launched at the 1985 Geneva Motor Show and was the first Ford to wear the 'Cosworth' badge. Only 5545 were built in order to homologate the car for Group A Touring car racing and were based on the 3 door Sierra bodyshell but fitted with a 2.0 litre turbo engine of now legendary repute. It featured a double overhead camshaft, 16 valve engine with a Garret T3 turbo and intercooler, giving a reliable 204bhp which produced a 150 mph top speed and a 0-60 time of just 6.8 seconds!

This UK supplied right-hand drive car was supplied new by E. Ward of Wellingborough on 19th September 1986 to a Mr G. Beeby of Kettering, and was bought by our vendor last year. It has taken pride of place in his notorious collection of RS Fords and stored in a temperature controlled environment. The vendor has used it sparingly but the car has recently been recommissioned and is supplied with a fresh MoT certificate and is presented in lovely condition. Also included within the history file are copies of dyno sheets from September 2014 when the car was put on the rolling road by RGS Motorsport recording a maximum of 236.6 bhp at the flywheel. The interior is unmarked and shows very little wear to the seat bolsters and is in keeping with a genuine low-mileage example. The bodywork is in superb order and the original colour of Moonstone Blue looks fantastic.

The mechanicals have all been checked over and no modifications have been made to this factory original car contrasting with the many similar cars that ended up with modified turbos, suspension and trim. As such, it is highly collectable today and the Sierra Cosworth is now being recognised as a real future classic, with many experts predicting long term growth in value - similar to the limited edition fast Fords of previous generations. The mileage is reading 53,957 miles and this is backed up by an extensive box history file with previous MoT records and original service books and handbooks. A superb chance of fun classic ownership in a real 'blue oval' icon.
