DESCRIPTION

The Porsche 930 Turbo was a genuine 'Supercar' that defined the seventies and eighties. It was one of the fastest production cars available at the time. It was first seen at the 1973 Paris Auto Show and full production commenced two years later. The basic engine underpinnings came from the Carrera 2.7RS which was increased to 3.0Litres and, of course, turbocharged with technology gained from Porsche's 917/30 Can-Am program. The bodywork received special treatment to produce one of the most aggressive looking Porsches ever made with its wide arches and impressive rear whale-tail. The brakes came directly from the Porsche 917 race car. The final evolution of the 930 Turbo saw the engine capacity increased to 3299cc, with improved upgrades on the intercooler and, for some, the fitment of the G50 transmission.

Registered August 1988, this is a "J' Series car making it one of the very last with the original 4-speed gearbox. Being a Targa it is the rarest of all the 930 Turbo derivatives. This is one of just 58 UK right-hand drive cars that were built in the three year production.

Besides its Targa roof what's really special about this Marine Blue Metallic 930 Turbo is its fully warranted and almost unheard of 35,000mile history. This is something very rare for a 1980's Porsche. How on earth its handful of owners have managed to resist its 320bhp capacity and Turbo-powered performance is beyond us, but there is clear evidence that this has been a cherished car throughout its life. Performance upgrades to this 930 include a rebuilt K27-7200 Rarly Turbo, Weltmiester Intercooler and 1.0 bar boost spring, Rarly sports exhaust and sports headers, battery isolation switch, new clutch and new synchros and dogs. All this results in a huge reduction in turbo lag and increased performance. Suspension is courtesy of Weltmeister front tower brace and Bilstein rear shock absorbers.

Interior options include electric heated seats in Linen Leather with blue piping, light-coloured carpets, power locks, electric seats & windows plus the correct cassette/radio player. The spare wheel is unused along with the factory compressor and all the wheels are 16" one-piece 7J/9J Fuchs alloys.

For those in the know this is a very special car indeed and, subject to careful maintenance and restrained use, it is certainly "one-to-watch' for the future. A popular car globally, we anticipate strong overseas interest in this vehicle on auction day. Offered with UK V5C and MoT test certificate to April 2014, our transport agents will be pleased to help you with shipping should you require it.
