SUMMARY
Just two owners, less than 55,000 miles and substantial recent investment to present it in top form.
DESCRIPTION
- The Mk2 may have suffered for not being the first Golf GTi but in many ways, it’s a better car - faster, more comfortable and more modern
- Powered by a 1.8-litre naturally aspirated inline-four, producing around 110bhp, driving the front wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission
- Dating from 1988, this 8-valve 3-door Mk2 has covered just 54,720 miles, nearly all of it with its original owner
- Purchased by our vendor (the car's second owner) recently with the intention of returning it to top form as a gift for his son when he became old enough to drive
- Consequently, he has invested over £10,000 on a full underbody restoration, all running gear overhauled, engine bay fully detailed, SS exhaust and much more (see Condition Report)
- He chose to leave the paintwork alone as it's original and just needed a polish and wax
- Two sets of wheels, factory originals and the (optional) BBS RAs
- MOT until October 2025 issued with no advisories. Original stamped service book/book pack

Remarks
Since I have had the car, I have undertaken underbody restoration consisting broadly of removal of subframe, rear axle, front cross member etc. and had them either replaced with genuine parts or shot blasted and powder coated. All nuts and bolts zinc coated. All bushes have been replaced, new brakes, new Bilstein and Eibach suspension. I've largely left the paintwork as its quite original but treated it to a polish and wax.
