DESCRIPTION
The name 'Testarossa', literally Redhead, became synonymous with Ferrari sports racing cars in the 50s and 60s and was resurrected at the launch of their new model at the Paris Show at Porte de Versailles in 1984. Housing a 4.9 litre V12 engine producing 390BHP, the car was capable of a respectable 0-60 mph time of 4.7 seconds and a top speed of 196mph. Produced between 1984 and 1991, some 7,177 Testarossas were produced in total with the "twin mirror' cars now being recognised as the most collectable examples. This left-hand drive Ferrari Testarossa was delivered new to Switzerland and has spent much of its life being cosseted in a private collection. It was collected by it's first owner in the picturesque Alpine town of Lugano, Switzerland on 19th May 1989. It was serviced in October 1989 by the supplying Ferrari dealer and used very sparingly for its first few years. By 1993 the car had covered 3,290 Kilometres and by 2004 just 4,832 kilometres. In recent years the car has resided in a private collection in Portugal and used only in fine weather. The current mileage reading is a mere 10,254 kilometres or 6,372 miles and although this figure is not warranted, the quality and originality of the bodywork and interior suggest this is accurate and must be seen to be fully appreciated. We welcome any inspection of this vehicle and it will be supplied with a jack, spare wheel, tool kit and leather handbook pack. Finished in the ultimate colour combination of Rosso Corsa with Crema interior, this Testarossa has only just been the subject of significant recommissioning in April 2015. Included in these recent works was a full, engine-out, cambelt service. There will be a number of pictures available that illustrate the level of work carried out. Testarossas seem to be starting to find their feet in the collectors car market and this example is one of the finest we have seen.
