1990 BMW 635 CSI 'Hi-Line' Alpina

The E24 was a worthy successor to the previous E9 3.0CS/i coupe. It was built between 1976 to early 1990 with fairly few body changes; perfection is difficult to improve on after all! The shark-like nose of the E24 is still a thing of beauty even now and no modern BMW has ever been so distinctive. The E24 has huge presence.

It is assumed by many that the E24 is the sportier version of the E23 seven series, this isn't so. The proven E25 5 series provided the chassis and many mechanicals for its slightly bigger brother.

The 628CSi was a budget model launched for Europe which was introduced in late 1979. It was complemented by the excellent 635CSi, a "Highline" example of which we are delighted to offer today. Further, this particular car has an Alpina engine upgrade which must make this one of the most desireable BMW 635 Coupes ever.

This particular example was ordered by a noteable industrialist, but was soon returned to the supplying dealer because it was not "special" enough - it lacked "poke" compared to the client's previous V12 Jaguar. So, the dealer took drastic action and uprated the engine to full Alpina specification.
