DESCRIPTION
The Porsche 964 is the company's internal name for the Porsche 911 manufactured and sold between 1989 and 1994. Designed by Benjamin Dimson in 1986, it featured significant styling revisions over previous 911 models; most prominently, the more integrated bumpers. It was the first generation 911 to be offered with Porsche's optional Tiptronic automatic transmission and all wheel drive as options. Porsche chose to re-use the 3.3 litre engine from the 930 with several minor revisions that made the engine smoother, less prone to turbo lag and more powerful with a total output of 320bhp at 5750rpm. The 964 Turbo is considered to be one of the prettiest 911s built and certainly one of the more powerful.
This stunning 3.3 Litre 964 Turbo is an original 'C16' UK specification right-hand drive example that was sold new in April 1991 by Parkwood Porsche, at a cost of over £75,000. Finished in its original colour of Polar Silver with Can Can Red leather interior, the car has been maintained meticulously since new. A certificate of authenticity and original under-bonnet sticker confirm the factory options of limited slip differential, sports seats with electric height adjustment, air conditioning, on-board computer, factory immobiliser and sun roof.
The history file on this particular 964 Turbo is one of the best we have seen. Bills and receipts totalling over £30,000 can be found in the folder, along with a fully stamped service booklet, original wallet, all previous V5 documents, MoT certificates, tax discs and a full condition report from 2005 by highly respected Porsche specialist Peter Morgan Consulting Ltd. The two service booklets are replacement items but must have replaced the original in its first year on the road, as there are stamps dating back to July 1991 with an odometer reading of just 2,000 miles. A further 25 stamps warrant the total mileage of 82,000 with all work carried out by main dealers Parkwood Porsche, Lancaster Porsche, HR Owen, Porsche Centre Colchester and respected specialist GT One Ltd. The file is a joy to behold and will give any potential purchaser significant confidence that the car has been maintained to the highest standards. The last service was carried out less than 100 miles ago by Porsche specialist Tom Ferguson.
Externally, the car presents very well indeed with good shut lines and straight panels. The inner front wings show factory original paint and there is no evidence of rust underneath the spare wheel. The interior is in lovely original condition throughout and even the seat bolsters are in very good order. The leather does appear to have been treated at some time in its life and the original Becker radio is still present.
Overall, this 964 Turbo is an original and highly collectable example that is ready to use and enjoy. Buyers should be aware that the number plate shown is not included in the sale.
