1992 Vauxhall Carlton GSi 3000 24v

Described as an executive car, the Vauxhall Carlton claim to fame must surely be it's awesome power for what appeared to be a stately saloon. What began as two straight-six engines with 2.6 and 3.0 litres and 12 valves, quickly evolved to 24valves before eventually we saw the range-topping GSi 3000 as offered here today upon which the later Lotus Carlton was based. At launch in 1986 it had 177bhp and gave a top speed of 134mph. In 1990, power was increased by going from 12 valves to 24, resulting in 204bhp which saw a 0-62mph dispatched in 7.6 seconds! A star was born...

The 1992 Carlton GSi 24Valve offered here today is a fine example of the marque with just 3 former keepers and fewer than 130,000 miles travelled. It is finished in Silver with Black half-leather trim incorporating go-faster stripes on the seats! Despite the miles, it presents in pleasing order throughout with that all-important engine sounding healthy and pulling strongly. Offered without reserve, but with book packs, some past MoT's, a fresh 12 month MoT and V5C registration document, if you passed on one in 1992, it's surely not to be missed now...
