Mercedes-Benz brought its new design language to its mid-size models, with the launch of the W124 range in November 1984. Gone were the ‘70s lines of the outgoing W123, in was the sharper-edged styling already seen on the C- and S-class models.

Regarded as the last of the Benzes to exude the ‘hewn-from-solid’ feel which made them such a sales success, the W124 range is still a common sight on roads across the globe, in saloon, estate and cabriolet form. Combining space and comfort, they still find a market of eager buyers who hanker for reliability, style and affordable comfort.

The car:

The car boasts a full leather interior, heated electric memory seats, orthopaedic driver’s seat and air conditioning, with Mercedes’ legendary W124 build quality coming as part of the package.

First registered in 1993, there are lots of invoices for early years servicing, one set of keys and the car enjoyed major attention in 2019, being thoroughly serviced with new filters, fluids, oil and plugs, it was also treated to brand new tyres all round, together with brake discs and pads. 

While there is a good stack of invoices for the car’s earlier years, the service history book and the larger part of the car’s history has been lost. The car has formed part of a private collection in the past two years with no use whatsoever, so buyers will need to factor this in.
