SUMMARY
A stylish example of Aston's elegant DB7 in a lovely colour combination and less than 19,000 miles from new.
DESCRIPTION
Background
Introduced to an astonished public in 1993, the handsome new DB7 was Aston Martin's first six-cylinder model since production of the DBS had finished in 1971. Styled by Ian Callum, its lines were evocative of earlier Aston Martin models and elements of the DB4/5/6 could be seen if you looked carefully. Arguably, one of the most attractive looking cars ever produced by Aston Martin, the 7 was more approachable than the leviathans that had immediately preceded it. Well-received, it attracted new customers worldwide, with the traditional layout of the curvaceous two door coupé body, robust six-cylinder engine and a proper interior. Power was supplied by an all-alloy, double overhead camshaft, supercharged, 24-valve, in-line six-cylinder engine which produced 335bhp at 5,750rpm. In the same way that the beautiful little 1960s' Lotus Elan morphed, over the years, into the be-winged Esprit Turbo, the DB7 was the first in the line of modern Astons that have become more dramatic with each new model, however we feel that the simple purity of line of the DB7 will ultimately define the breed.
The Car
First registered in 1996, this i6 was purchased by its previous owner, a technical engineer, in 2020 adding some ‘upgrades’ by way of changing the grille to a super chrome version, stainless steel tail pipes have been added, the front brakes have been upgraded to Brembos with the intention of taking the vehicle to France however complex French vehicle regulations have meant that it has proved difficult to register over there and consequently he reluctantly offered the Aston for sale with us in 2022 when the current owner purchased it. The vehicle has continued to be enjoyed sparingly, enjoying just the odd weekend drive. With recent expenditure totalling £4,000 at Aston Martin Chiltern, which included complete comprehensive check, air-conditioning overhaul, two new DB7 tyres along with front callipers and springs, it is described in good working order.
Finished in Mendip Blue over a superb light grey leather interior, it is described by the current owner as stunning throughout and has clearly led a cherished life, the only thing to note is the CD player in the car is not working though the radio does. The recorded mileage, at the time of cataloguing, was just 18,755, which is supported by a comprehensive service history. As you would expect for a vehicle of this quality, the history file includes a complete book pack, older MOT Certificates and the current MOT which runs through until December 2024, which currently shows no advisories.
Summary
Used sparingly of late, this elegant DB7 will be at home within any serious Aston Martin collection or possibly even be used as a rather indulgent daily drive such is the quality and provenance of this ever popular modern day classic.
