1997 Porsche 911 Carrera 4

The 993 was the last Porsche 911 range to feature air cooled flat six engines and they're viewed by many aficionados as the finest 911s ever produced. Central to this view is the multi-link suspension which replaced the traditional semi trailing arms of previous iterations - the source of the 911s reputation for boisterous handling. The transmissions were improved in both the manual (now six speed - a first for Porsche) and the Tiptronic gearbox which became more sophisticated, recognising gradients and descents and so improving the driving experience. Mechanically, the brakes and exhaust systems were all improved. The bodywork was revised to give a more rounded style, with a genesis that is apparent in today's 911s. Engine development included Porsche's VarioRam induction system that improved the torque characteristics of the engine, which greatly improved the overall performance. It was a standard feature from 1996 onwards.

Finished in Arena Red Metallic with contrasting black leather interior, this particular 993 Carrera 4 was first delivered to the UK on the 1st of February 1997. Factory options included 17" Cup Wheels, rear window wiper, tinted windshield, air conditioning and electric sunroof. The bodywork and interior present very well indeed and the car certainly looks to have been carefully maintained from new. This is evident not just from physical inspection but when looking through the history file one finds bills and receipts from specialists and main dealers documenting work carried out. The mileage has just crept over the 100,000 miles mark and this is fully documented by 14 service stamps in the service booklet that warrant the mileage.

The car has just been serviced by well respected Porsche specialists, RS 911, in Wales and is supplied with a full condition report from them and almost 1 year's MoT. Being a desirable manual example, we feel this car represents a superb everyday driving proposition for a most reasonable outlay.
