DESCRIPTION
- The Catalunya was built to celebrate Colin McRae winning the Catalunya round of the previous year's World Rally Championship
- It was based on the UK 'Turbo 2000' with some attractive upgrades such as body colour-matched door handles and mirrors, red and black upgraded seats and door trims, a numbered plaque, air-conditioning, interior mats with logos and Limited Edition Catalunya badges
- The model sat on 16" gold alloy wheels, and like the previous McRae model, just 200 cars were produced by Prodrive. It was priced at £21,160 and entered dealerships in March 1997
- This smart example is 105/200 and looks very impressive in Black Mica (tiny red flecks) with gold alloys and unusually, features a black leather interior which was specified from new
- It's powered by the stunning EJ20 2.0 boxer engine with that amazing burbling exhaust sound, mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. A new cambelt and a new clutch were both fitted within the last couple of hundred miles
- Records indicate that there are only 100 of these cars left in the UK (mid-2022) of which only 17 are currently on the road.
- This Catalunya is an appreciating, original, classic and unmolested cars are getting harder to find particularly in this cared-for condition. It's accompanied by a good history file containing all of its original manuals and a stamped Service Book
