SUMMARY
A very rare Mini Cooper S 'Touring', one of just 100 produced by John Cooper Garages and almost certainly the lowest mileage example left, with just 166 miles from new.
DESCRIPTION
- S436 BWV is a very rare Mini Cooper S Touring, one of just 100 produced by John Cooper Garages (LE no. # 98-S-140), equipped with an 86bhp 1,275cc MPI engine with larger valves, polished and ported head, and modified ECU
- A Sports Pack was fitted which consisted of 13'' Minilite alloys, colour-coded arches, Koni dampers, modified steering rack, extra voltmeter & oil temperature gauge, rear wheel spacers, fog lamps, a leather steering wheel and gear lever gaiter, Walnut dashboard, door caps and door handles, alloy window winders and alloy door latches
- Other features included steel sill covers, airbag, alloy fuel cap, white mirrors, unique Cooper chassis plate and special Cooper S Touring decals and badges
- "Original" is a word regularly used within the world of classic cars, frequently incorrectly, however, in the case of this remarkable Mini, it is absolutely appropriate
- It was purchased brand new from John Cooper by its original owner to enjoy in his retirement and was driven all the way back to his home with the odometer showing just 166 miles when he turned the engine off. We can only imagine his sense of pride as he closed the garage doors and took a final glance back at his gleaming green Cooper S Touring, still ticking as it cooled down after its long run
- Sadly, an untimely illness led to his passing, meaning that he never got to enjoy his new car and it was to remain in the garage until purchased by our vendor in 2021
- He chose not to register the car in his name meaning that the V5C has the cachet of showing just one registered keeper
- In our vendor's words "As this is such a unique find we decided to leave the Mini completely untouched, in its original condition, without any restoration. This means there are some areas of rust and some minor cosmetic defects from its time spent in long-term storage but it starts, runs and drives smoothly "
-
We understand that all parts and accessories, including tyres, windscreen wipers, mats, interior finish, right down to the key fob are as they were when they left the factory. The unique car number, given to all John Cooper Garages conversion cars, is 98-S-140
- One of just 100, less than 170 miles from new and one name on the V5, this is rather special and totally worthy of the term 'original'.
