DESCRIPTION

  • Classic Coachworks is a small family-run business specialising in the manufacture and supply of body conversion kits for the BMW Z3
  • The GT body conversion kit seen here is a straightforward replacement of body panels and the addition of cover panels to a BMW Z3 bodyshell
  • It's a recreation of a period style and is not a replica of any particular make or model
  • The conversion retains the full monocoque bodyshell, running gear, doors and glass of the donor vehicle and consequently is exempt from IVA
  • Based on a 1999 BMW 2.8-litre Z3 with more than 2,000 hours invested in the build
  • Surprisingly good spec including ASC (standard Z3), air-conditioning, hazard switch (Z3), USB (Z3 cigarette lighter), rear view camera and much more (full spec available)

DASHBOARD LAYOUT/ CONTROLS The dashboard is laid out in a classic format with toggle switches but also makes use of the modern Z3 equipment. Working from left to right :- 1. Glove box The dashboard has a dummy glove box that is lockable. There is no rear section for storage as this has purposely been left free to allow access to wiring and for the installation of the stereo system. 2. The clock The clock remains connected to the 12v supply so that the time is kept when the vehicle is switched off. The clock can be manually adjusted by simply holding down the button. 3. Toggle switches There is a series of four stainless toggle switches. From left right :- (i) Passenger window momentary switch (ii) SPARE (iii) Rear fog light (iv) Driver window momentary switch 4. Period Smiths style dials The dials are laid out in an aesthetically pleasing format in keeping with tradition. These dials are wired directly to the various senders mounted around the vehicle. (i) Tacho (ii) Speedo (iii) Water temp (iv) Oil temp (v) Oil pressure (vi) Voltage Please note the dials read accurately but the oil temperature gauge often reads low due to its location within the engine bay. 5. Horn The standard centre steering wheel horn switch has been replaced with a dash mounted Lucas push button switch. 6. FUEL DELIVERY SYSTEM There is a compromise with the fuel delivery system and there is a fine balance between looking right and functionality. There is a locking fuel filler cap mounted on the O/S rear wing. The limited space between the inside of the car body and the original chassis limits the size of the filler hose used. On occasion this means that it is not always possibly to deliver fuel as quickly as with a modern vehicle and requires a little patience. WIRE WHEELS The vehicle is fitted with centre spline wire wheels and not with conventional studded wheels. In order to remove the wheels it is a simple case of manually ‘knocking off’ the spinners with the lead mallet provided. There is no need to remove the spline hub. Please note, the hubs and spinners are handed. REGULAR MAINTENANCE As with all vehicles modern or otherwise there is a certain amount of regular maintenance required. The fitting of the kit does not interfere with the checking or topping up of any fluids. In actual fact as the whole front of the vehicle lifts there is a greater improved access. BONNET RELEASE The bonnet is released using the standard pull handle mounted on the N/S footwell. The standard bonnet catches are retained and mounted to the new bonnet. In order to lift the bonnet section of the vehicle there is a push button just under the front right hand side of the vehicle.

If we do not hear back from you by 5pm on Sunday evening, we will arrange collection with EM Rogers on your behalf.
