DESCRIPTION

The Ferrari 360 Challenge is a race focused development of the hugely popular Ferrari 360 Modena road car. The 360 Challenge was a significantly modified, non-road legal car, originally conceived with Ferrari's popular racing series the 'Ferrari Challenge' in mind. When the car was first introduced, Ferrari claimed that the 360 Challenge boasted a quicker acceleration time of 3.9s from 0-62mph along with substantially better cornering ability over the standard road car unsurprisingly as a result of its enhanced racing suspension and brakes.

Unlike its predecessors, the 360 Challenge was the first 'Challenge' series car that was a factory built and supplied race car, as opposed to a road car with a 'Challenge' upgrade kit. This meant greater weight reduction could be achieved, which when combined with the improved handling features allowed the car to easily outperform its road counterpart - despite having a similar power output.

Purchased by our vendor in 2012 from GT Cup regular, Mick Dwane, this car had been campaigned in the Ferrari Challenge in 2003 and 2004 and Mick had raced it in 2010 and 2011 in the Pirelli Ferrari Open as well. The condition of this car appealed to our vendor as it had never sustained any accident damage, chassis damage or corrosion. At the time of his purchase in 2012, the engine had been rebuilt by Graypaul Ferrari Nottingham and the power had been increased by fitting a Stradale inlet tract and uprating the exhaust. There are dyno sheets showing a power increase to 442bhp at 8,300rpm and 325 ft. lbs torque at 5,800rpm. Original 360 challenge figures are 410bhp at 8,500rpm and 286ft lb at 4750rpm. Furthermore, this car is also fitted with a 430 hydraulic pump, adjustable carbon rear wing, rear diffuser, front spoiler, lightweight perspex headlight covers and a perspex windscreen. There is an AiM Smartycam on-board GPS camera with track mapping facilities too.

During its current ownership this 360 Race Car has had the F1 gearbox power unit replaced to increase its efficiency, and been fitted with all new transmission and clutch sensors as well as a rebuilt gearbox from Prosport in 2012.

Since 2011, this car has had 5 outright race wins in the Pirelli Ferrari Open and still holds class C2 lap records for Donington Park, Castle Combe, Oulton Park, Snetterton, Zandvoort and Circuit Zolder.

New cambelts were fitted in November 2013 and in July, 2014 the engine and gearbox oil and filters were changed and the coolant renewed. Most recently, the car behaved faultlessly at a test session around Knockhill Racing Circuit in June 2015.

The spares package accompanying this car includes a spare set of wheels with slicks and a spare set with wets, brake pads, an original Challenge exhaust system, front/rear hubs, and some wishbones.
