SUMMARY

#68 of 100 special edition cars built to mark the end of production of the legendary Griff 500.

DESCRIPTION

In 2000, TVR announced that Griffith production was going to end and a limited edition run of 100 Special Edition (SE) cars were to be built to mark the occasion. Although very similar to the previous 500s, the SEs have a hybrid interior using the Chimaera dashboard and Cerbera seats. Externally, the rear lights are different along with different door mirrors, higher powered headlights and clear indicator lenses. Some also came with 16" wheels and each car displays a numbered plaque in the glove box including the build number and a 'Special Edition' badge on its boot. All cars also have a unique signature in the boot under the carpet. The SEs were built between 2000 and 2002, with the last example being registered in 2003.

This is #68 of those 100 Special Editions and is finished in Formula Red, one of only three SEs to be finished in this colour and the only such example to be trimmed internally with cream and scarlet extended hide. The SE was identical to the final Griffith 500 models and was powered by the same 340bhp 5-litre V8 with a 5-speed manual gearbox and capable of 0-60mph in 4.1 seconds and 169mph.

The car is accompanied by a comprehensive history file that documents the service history with noted TVR Concessionaires such as Hexham Horseless Carriages, TVR Blackpool, Williams of Harrogate, Mole Valley TVR and Kerridge's amongst those entrusted to ensure that the 500SE was up to specification and on its toes when and if required. Remaining in superb condition, throughout this rare and desirable 500SE will be a unique and pleasing addition to any general classic collection or TVR specific motor house and with that in mind we welcome and encourage your early inspection to fully appreciate the opportunity on offer.
