2003 VW Golf "Gulfair" Race Car

Built from a MkIV factory supplied Golf race shell by Frazero Racing and raced in Britsh GT (!), the car has been seam welded and fitted with a 'Custom Cages' welded in cage (with door cross bars), Frazero front uprights, beam braces and competition bushes. The doors, bonnet and tailgate have all been especially lightened.

The engine is a 1900cc, 20 valve unit, running a IHI KO4 turbo with 1.5 bar boost, Motex M48 engine management system, custom made intercooler, Omega forged racing pistons all of which give a reliable 250 plus bhp and 290lbs/ft torque at 6000RPM.

This is coupled to an AWFX six speed sequential gearbox and a Helix clutch.

Quality components have been fitted throughout: There are Proflex dampers all round, Brembo 355mm vented front racing brakes and 295mm solid disc rears, OZ 8.5 X18 inch racing wheels, Airjacks, Recaro racing seat with full Sparco harness, a 100 litre TL safety fuel cell, Motec instruments and data logging, an extinguisher system, carbon dash and door trims and Sparco racing steering wheel etc.

Today it is an ideal long distance car, reliable and safe, but still quick and competitive in Britcar or similar series. It is also fantastic value for money in this price guide, when you consider the cost of the components alone.
