SUMMARY
The Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VIII probably marked the zenith of the Evo cult in the UK and this one registered keeper, low mileage FQ-400 is a superb example.
DESCRIPTION
This fabulous Evo VIII (Number 57 of 100) is very impressive and certainly one of the best we have ever seen. It was first registered on 1st March 2005 and sold by SGT Mitsubishi in Taplow to its one owner from new and has always been to the same Mitsubishi garage for servicing and maintenance.
Our marque-enthusiast vendor explains that the car has been garaged its whole life, is totally rust free and has never had any welding or repairs underneath and, whilst we can’t confirm that, the little Lancer gleams like a new pin and appears virtually showroom fresh. The car is in fantastic condition throughout, the paintwork all appears original, clean and bright, and the interior is again in superb shape with minimal wear even on the drivers-side bolster.
It’s fitted with four matching Dunlop Sport Max tyres, (matching tyres are required on this car due to the four-wheel drive system) and all four alloys are 'as new' and have just benefited from a full refurbishment. The car still has the original bung in the exhaust back box. These were actually removed at the dealership at PDI and thrown away, however, the owner requested for this to be replaced as he preferred the car less noisy.
In total there are 20 service stamps at Mitsubishi along with a detailed printout of what was done (printout from 2014 as the computer system was updated at that point). The total cost of servicing at Mitsubishi over the years is in excess of £21,000, the cambelt was last done in July 2022 and the car also had a new clutch and flywheel replaced in 2021. The new clutch was from a later Evo 9 as the original FQ-400 clutch is notoriously hard, snatchy and heavy to use.
It has also just had a full check over (August 2022), fluid change, diff oils, AYC System, brake fluid and coolant replacement by a local Mitsubishi Specialist. The Alcon front calipers were fully refurbished with new stainless piston by God Speed Brakes and new Alcon pads were also fitted.
Number 57/100 is totally original, standard and unmodified with the only exception being a modern Pioneer DAB/Bluetooth head unit. We understand that everything works as it should and the air conditioning is cold. It's supplied with all the normal manuals etc. and the supporting documentation includes the original Bill of Sale, SVA Certificate, V5C, Certificate of Authenticity, both original keys and two remote fobs.
This is a seriously quick motor car generating 405bhp from its 2-litre, turbocharged four-cylinder engine and offering 0-60 in 3.8 seconds and 175mph. It's very seldom that we see a performance car of this nature that has covered just over 55,000 miles yet remains in such pristine condition. Remarkable.
