This factory-built Daytona Coupe is one of only a handful of continuation Superformance cars that are officially approved and licensed by Shelby American Inc. The body was designed by Pete Brock and the chassis by the late Bob Negstad, both of whom built the original 6 Shelby cars that ran so infamously at Daytona, Le Mans and across the world. With a 55R/45F weight distribution and a thunderous 6.6 litre Roush engine, this car boasts 515 BHP, a 6-speed Tremac gearbox and a top speed of 207 miles per hour. As discovered by Nick Hall of PistonHeads: "While it may look like the classic Coupé on the outside, the similarity really is just skin deep. This is a modern supercar with power figures that compare to the likes of the Porsche Carrera GT and Ferrari Enzo, but costs a fraction of the price and has ready-made heritage."Chassis number 0005 has covered a mere 8,900 miles from new and is finished in dark green with full black leather interior. The Windsor block fires on the button and rumbles with a purposeful exhaust note. Once on the road, 100 mph comes up in a staggering 8.6 seconds. The power is simply immense and concentration is certainly required to modulate the throttle. The steering is light and the brakes reassuring.Evidently, this car offers retro styling, supercar performance and modern creature comforts such as air conditioning.
