SUMMARY

WSBK Honda CBR1000RR, as raced by Karl Muggeridge in the late part of the 2007 season.

DESCRIPTION

Background:

The eighth generation RR (SC57), the Honda CBR1000RR (Fireblade) was introduced in 2006 and featured the compact 998cc in-line four and race-inspired cassette-type 6-speed gearbox, of the previous version introduced in 2004. Improved breathing, higher compression and revised cam timing raised the redline from 11,250 to 12,250rpm, with power climbing to 177bhp.

The chassis was an updated version of the aluminium frame introduced in the first CBR1000RR, featuring revised rear suspension with altered geometry and a new lighter swingarm. Not only did this make for a stunning road bike, it provided the raw material for competition success.

Naturally, Honda Racing and a number of privateer squads fielded the CBR in World Superbikes and Endurance racing and it remained competitive throughout its life, thanks to continual development.

The bike:

This stunning full-fat race CBR1000RR was built and run by Alto Evolution during the 2007 WSBK season for Karl Muggeridge and is presented in as-raced condition by the team itself.

Having won the 2004 World SuperSport title, Aussie ‘Muggas’ moved into WSBK with Ten Kate Honda but after two tough seasons, he opted to move to Alto Evolution and rode Hondas for the team in World Superbikes throughout 2007, partnering compatriot Josh Brooks. Karl rode two bikes during that season and this is the machine which he used for the final few rounds of the Championship.

It’s fully-loaded with the very best that was available in period – including parts from HRC (of course), Nissin and Akrapovic. The machine also features a now very rare Kenny Roberts swingarm and comes complete with its Motec dash, sensors etc. It’s ready to tear up the tracks again – if the new owner is up to it!

Summary:

A full-fat World Superbike Honda CBR1000RR, restored to as-raced condition by the team which ran it in period. The only question is: can you handle it?
