SUMMARY

High specification and highly original, this outstanding, low-mileage Gallardo has formidable presence, presented in Metallic Grigio Proteus and is supported by a comprehensive Lamborghini service history.

DESCRIPTION

The 1974 launch of the Lamborghini Countach was, without doubt, a turning point in sportscar design and it became a poster car for a generation. The car's 'flying wedge' design, with a sloping snout that appeared to descend directly from the windscreen, and innovative 'scissor doors' was pure automotive drama. Drawing from his revolutionary Lancia Stratos Zero concept from the year before, Marcello Gandini designed the Countach as an angular wedge with crisp lines and dramatic angles. Compared to its curvaceous rivals, the Countach was a razor blade in a drawer full of spoons and influenced the looks of every Lamborghini that followed.

The purchase by Audi of Lamborghini in 1998 secured the marque’s future into the next millennium, and whilst the Murcielago became the company’s flagship supercar, the 2003 launch of the more approachable, mid-engined Gallardo marked Audi’s engineering and technical input with the new model proving the most usable and reliable to ever leave the Sant'Agata factory. Named after a famous breed of fighting bull, production ended in 2013, and it was the most successful model in the history of the company.

Offered here in the Silverstone Auctions May event at Supercar Fest is a stunning Lamborghini Gallardo that was delivered new to the UK and first registered on 22nd March 2007. A large factory specification included paintwork finished in Metallic Grigio Proteus, a bi-colour leather interior, Callisto Silver split-rim wheels, front-end lifting system, E-Gear paddle shift transmission, Satellite navigation, come-home function, Electric heated sports seating, NavTrack, Heated wing mirrors, rear-view camera, dark rear lamps, Bluetooth phone prep and paint protection film to the front end.

Indicating just over 24,000 miles, at the time of cataloguing, it's evident that this example has been extremely well cared for from new. The grey metallic paintwork is virtually flawless, the alloy wheels are spotless, and the interior presents as new. The low mileage is supported by a comprehensive service record, mostly Lamborghini with the most recent at 24,050 miles completed by a specialist. The Gallardo is supplied with a history file including invoices to support the maintenance record, old MOT Certificates showing no advisories ever, and a current V5C ready for transfer or export.

This is a great opportunity to take ownership of a modern classic Lamborghini with a timeless design, a 'supercar' that is very easy to get along with especially featuring the front lift and seamless paddle shift transmission. Very few excellent examples come to market and this one, in a very stylish colour with a high factory specification really ticks all the boxes.
