SUMMARY
Stunning, 276bhp, AWD, Gen-3 WRX STi 'Hawk Eye' that's covered less than 7,000 miles from new.
DESCRIPTION
From the early 1990s through to 2008, Subaru enjoyed enormous success on the World Rally stage and the Impreza was the star. All-wheel drive, great acceleration, traction and brakes made the cars seriously capable performers. The WRX or 'World Rally Experimental' production car was based on the rally-winning Impreza and carried over many of the driver focused features and systems. The WRX STI was the top of the line version and in good hands it was a hard-to-beat car
The redesigned, third-generation (2005-07) Impreza WRX STI featured swept-back headlights that resembled hawk eyes and a three-part grille that looked like an aeroplane. Its front bumper sported a lower apron with an integrated rectangular grille for the intercooler and instead of the fog lights, it featured two body-coloured plastic caps with the red Subaru Tecnica International logo. The STI version featured a spoiler on the upper side of the rear windscreen and a wing on the boot lid. Inside, the carmaker kept the sports bucket seats with high bolstering and integrated headrests. In the instrument cluster, the tachometer took centre stage flanked by the speedometer on the right and the fuel and coolant-temperature gauges on the left dial. The STI was available in only one trim level, with the sound system on the upper side and the climate control dials on the lower side on the centre stack.
Unlike the rest of the Impreza range, the STI version featured a 6-speed manual and an adjustable front and rear torque distribution dial for selected markets. Its flat-four engine provided a claimed 276bhp.
Supplied to its first owner on 29th June 2007 in Ireland, this superb third generation ‘Hawk Eye’ WRX STi is finished in World Rally Blue with a contrasting blue and black cloth interior with STi badging on the front seats. Under the bonnet sits the 2.5-litre EJ255 four-cylinder Boxer engine with single TD04 turbocharger which develops 276bhp and 289lb/ft of torque driving all four wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission offering enough performance and excitement for most buyers with 0-60mph achievable in 5.4 seconds.
The car had its first service by Donnelly Brothers of Belfast, a main Subaru dealer, on 7th August at 1,148 miles and was used sparingly and then stored in a humidified environment until our lucky vendor managed to purchase the vehicle last year. He immediately set about having the car recommissioned by Paul Wray Motorsport of Strabane, a specialist in Subarus, making sure it was fully up to speed including all belts, brakes overhauled and fuel lines cleaned through, with the mileage then showing at 6,500. With just under 7,000 miles on the odometer it has been decided due to lack of use to let this fabulous WRX go to its next custodian. The car is totally standard and has had no upgrades or been chipped, super rare for these cars, and consequently can be regarded as collector quality. Supplied with all of its original documentation, book pack with folder, and both keys, it presents as you might expect from an example with such low mileage that has been totally cherished from new.
