Background:
When Bentley launched the Supersports at the top of its Continental range in 2009, it became the fastest and most powerful production Bentley ever. Its twin-turbo 6-litre W12 produced a whopping 612bhp and 590lb/ft of torque, enough to hustle it from 0-100kmh (62mph) in just 3.9 seconds, before rushing on to a top speed of 202mph, running on either gasoline or E85 bio-ethanol.
Revisions were made to the ZF automatic gearbox, allowing a quick-shift system, reducing gearchange times by 50% and - to rein in the extra horses – carbon-fibre reinforced Silicon Carbide ceramic brake discs were specified – the largest and most powerful ever fitted to a production car.
The car:
Any Supersports is a rare and desirable car and this GTC is arguably even more so, as it offers all the power and performance with the option of topless motoring. As handsome as it is fast, this fabulous UK-supplied, right-hand-drive example was first registered on 8th December 2010 and has been enjoyed by just two very fortunate owners (the second and current taking custody on 28th September 2015).
This GTC Supersports still looks as striking as the day it left the production line, elegant yet somehow also mean and moody in its Granite Grey paint with a Beluga interior and black roof. Its previous keepers have clearly lavished attention on this magnificent beast and it looks as good as you would expect from a car that was showing just 52,640 miles at the time of cataloguing.
