DESCRIPTION
Background:
Porsche’s 911 in all its guises remains perhaps the only modern sports coupé that the vast majority of people could identify without its badge. From its earliest days, the 911 has been regarded both as a purist’s driving machine and a prestigious, quality piece of automotive engineering with few peers. It is a uniquely aspirational model for those wanting a reliable daily sports car, that doesn’t (always) shout its performance from the rooftops. It is a paradoxical blend of statement and subtlety.
Perfected over generations, each variant of the 911 has met the expectations of the individual and whilst the daily commute in a Carrera was acceptable for some, the 911 Turbo was something special. Relaxed and forgiving around town, always refined yet capable of supercar speeds, the evolution of the Turbo came into its own with the 996 generation of the late 1990s and early 2000s, however the classic circular headlamps were missed and in 2004 they returned with the 997 Carrera.
The Turbo S, with its 0-60 time, will go down in history as the fastest accelerating 997 ever built and only the third production Porsche capable of exceeding 200mph. Available only with the 7-speed PDK transmission, the engine in the Turbo S was tuned to generate an extra power output of 30 PS (30bhp) more than the standard Turbo, bringing the total to 530 PS (523bhp) at 6,000rpm and 700Nm (516lb/ft) of torque. Revised intake valve timing and a new carbon fibre airbox were installed to achieve this feat. The Turbo S also gained carbon-ceramic brakes and the Sport Chrono package as standard features
The car:
This beautiful second generation example was supplied new in June 2011 from Reading Porsche Centre. The car’s only owner is a London-based European national who frequently took trips to both Switzerland and Greece and with this in mind, requested that the Porsche exclusive department supply the car in left hand-drive to better support his regular European trips. The comprehensive service history reflects this, with the car having received service stamps from Porsche Centres in the UK, Switzerland and Greece.
The car has covered a mere 40,700km (25,234 miles) in its single ownership. The most recent service was in November 2023 - less than 150 miles ago - at Porsche Centre West London. Along with the usual routine servicing, the car also benefitted from a new drive belt at this time.
Whilst having been very well maintained, the car has been used and the front bumper does show some wear and tear along with some marks on the glovebox door, driver’s door-edge and a mark on the offside rear wheel arch.
The car was beautifully specified from new with a raft of options listed below:
