SUMMARY
An elegant Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 SDV8 with full history and desirable extras.
DESCRIPTION
Background:
Launched by British Leyland in 1970, Land Rover’s Range Rover was an instant game-changer – a vehicle that created an entire market segment. Work on a larger and less-basic vehicle to sit above the Land Rover began in 1951 but the project was shelved in 1958 and not revived until 1966, when Land Rover’s designers Spen King and Gordon Bashford revived the project, the first of 26 machines, badged Velar, being built in 1967.
Powered by Rover’s trusty 3.5-litre V8, detuned to produce 127hp, with permanent four-wheel-drive and coil-spring suspension for excellent on- and off-road manners, the Range Rover swiftly proved its go-anywhere credentials, becoming a sales success, despite its utilitarian interior. The move upmarket soon began, with more comfortable interiors, the move to a four-door body style in 1981, increasingly powerful engines, the addition of diesel power units and a host of ride and interior upgrades until today’s Range Rover is as likely to be used by Princes and Presidents as doing the school run.
The car:
This 2017 model-year Range Rover SDV8 is a prime example of the fourth generation of the model, styled by Gerry McGovern, the first production SUV to benefit from an all-aluminium unibody, offering a near half-tonne weight saving over the outgoing model.
The car presents superbly with classy, understated Carpathian Grey coachwork with privacy glass, featuring the optional contrasting black roof panel containing a desirable sliding panoramic roof and it sits on 22-inch 5-split-spoke alloys.
Power is provided by the 339hp 4.4-litre SDV8 diesel power unit, mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and this Range Rover benefits from the Drive Pro Pack option, in addition to the superb standard suspension and ride-control, with Active Rear Differential Locking and Active Roll Mitigation guaranteeing a sure-footed ride in all conditions.
The interior is in Ebony and Ivory, with optional semi-aniline leather seats and features the optional Meridian Surround System. It comes loaded with all the standard Vogue SE features, making any journey a delight for driver and passengers.
This two-previous-owner example has covered 65,700 miles, has a full Service History and is HPI clear. The private plate is not included in the sale.
Summary:
This fourth-generation Range Rover Vogue SE will conquer deserts, mountains and the urban jungle with equal aplomb. This delightful example is not to be missed!
