Six Live UK Auction Records and Four Live World Auction Records Achieved at Iconic Auctioneers Sale Relocated to Silverstone Circuit After Race Retro Show Is Cancelled Due to Flooding

1984 Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 Group B Homologation Special - Number 176 of just 200 New UK record at £227,250

Iconic Auctioneers moved fast to seek a new venue for their Competition and Collectors’ Classic sale after the annual Race Retro Show at Stoneleigh Park, Coventry, was cancelled due to extreme flooding. The auction took place at The Wing, Silverstone Circuit and saw some outstanding results led buy the 1984 Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 Group B Homologation Special which achieved a new UK auction record at £227,250.

This stunning car is Number 176 of just 200 road-going 205 Turbo 16 Homologation Specials constructed, fully UK registered and less than 10,000 miles from new. With only 200 units produced, it's a rare and sought-after jewel for any automotive collector or enthusiasts. Understandably there was a lot of interest in this car both in the room and online, but it was a telephone bidder who secured the winning bid.

Rowan Atkinson’s Land Rover Heritage Defender 110 sold for £83,250 – a new Auction World Record

Rowan Atkinson’s Land Rover Heritage Defender 110, one of the last of the line sold for £83,250 against an estimate of £65,000-£80,000 setting a new auction World Record. The world-famous comic actor, Rowan Atkinson CBE asked Iconic Auctioneers to find him a Land Rover Defender 110 Heritage Edition, specifically for his own use. The company found him this car in 2017 which was originally supplied new in 2015 to its first owner who covered a nominal mileage over 18 months. With just 3,800 miles from new, always correctly serviced, maintained and professionally stored, along with its celebrity provenance it is not surprising it set a new auction record.
Speaking after the sale Managing Director Rob Hubbard said

2015 Jaguar F-Type Project 7 - 71 Miles £137,250 against an estimate of £110,000 - £130,000 – a new UK Auction Record.

But the records did not stop there, six UK auction records were also set on the day including the sale of this Jaguar F-Type Project 7. One of only 80 right-hand drive examples of these contemporary classic Jaguars from SVO with just 71 miles from new.

The duo of Ford Sierra RS500 Cosworths which produced another great set of results.

The 1987 Ford Sierra RS500 Cosworth #266 made £92,250 and the 1987 Ford Sierra RS500 Cosworth #406 sold for £123,720 while the factory bench-tested Ford YBD RS500 Engine #YBD0628 sold for £28,125, smashing its estimate of £12,000 - £15,000.

When the catalogue is ready there will always be a link on our home page to the E-Catalogue. Printed versions are also posted out to vendors and selected buyers and are available to purchase at the auction.

When selling a car at one of our live auctions we charge a cataloguing fee of £250 plus VAT. The cataloguing fee covers photography, script writing, video and worldwide marketing of your vehicle. Our seller's commission is 7.5% plus VAT (9% including VAT) of the hammer price.

When selling a car or motorcycle in one of our monthly timed online auctions we charge no entry fee or seller's commission - you can list your vehicle for FREE. Buyers will pay us 6%+VAT on the winning bid. see our Timed Online FAQ's for more info (link)

When selling a motorcycle our standard cataloguing fee is £50 plus VAT. The cataloguing fee covers photography, script writing and worldwide marketing of your motorcycle. Our seller's commission is 7.5% plus VAT (9% including VAT) of the hammer price. We also offer a premium service with a cataloguing fee of £200 plus VAT which includes transport of your motorcycle to the auction.

For automobilia, watches and registration numbers we charge a cataloguing fee of £25 plus VAT. Our seller's commission for automobilia items and watches is 15% plus VAT (18% including VAT) of the hammer price, for number plates is 10% plus VAT (12% including VAT) of the hammer price.

Please register for your preferred method as soon as possible (online, by phone or via commission), at least 48 hours before the sale, to allow sufficient time for registration to be processed. Alternatively, you can register to bid in person when you arrive.
