2007 Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder once owned by Wayne Rooney and Carlos Tevez
A 2007 Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder - Gifted by England football legend and former record goal scorer, Wayne Rooney, to his friend and Manchester player, Carlos Tevez, as apparently, he didn't have one! Guide Price: £50,000 - £60,000
Carlos Tevez was a world-renowned star too, playing in his home country as well as the UK, Italy, China and ultimately returning home to Argentina late in his career. So, this car offers a special opportunity, to own a car that once belonged to two world renowned football players! Provenance does not come more gilded that that.
Now this car with its heart-warming provenance comes to sale with Iconic Auctioneers (formerly Silverstone Auctions) on August 26th at the Silverstone Festival.
The generous gift took place after Tevez was mocked by many of the Manchester squad for not owning a supercar, so Rooney gifted the Gallardo to Tevez as he felt sorry for him! Nice friend to have.
Speaking to the press about the gift, Carlos Tevez said: “I turned up at the club in the Audi that the club gave me and everyone bugged me about it, as if it was a Fiat 600. I spoke to Rooney about it and crazy guy that he is, he told me 'take the Lamborghini'. So I took it and I went without registering it around Manchester with the car this car that he gave to me.”
This very special LP560-4 Gallardo Spyder was registered on 18th April 2007 to its first keeper, a Mr Wayne Rooney of Manchester United fame, supplied by Lamborghini Birmingham. This Gallardo sports a black-on-black colour scheme, and rides on the correct set of 19" ‘Cassiopia’ alloy wheels with Lamborghini centre caps, framing yellow brake callipers and shod with Pirelli P Zero tyres. Included in the factory specification were electrically-adjustable heated seats, electric folding door mirrors, dual-zone climate control, a central info-tainment screen with a reversing camera and satellite navigation, and a boot-mounted 6CD changer.
The arrival of the LP560-4 (560PS and four-wheel drive) in 2008 was a serious evolutionary step forward for the Gallardo, with sharper design elements incorporated to enhance the striking coachwork whilst retaining the signature purity of line. It was powered by a new uneven firing and more economical 5.2-litre V10 engine, featuring direct fuel injection and producing 552bhp. At the same time, the E-gear was revised to offer a Corsa mode, making gear changes 40% quicker than before and also reduced the amount of traction control intervention. A Thrust Mode launch control system was added also. Some 20kg lighter than its predecessor, the LP560-4 offered 0-62mph in 3.7 seconds on its way to a top speed of 202mph. The interior was pure Lamborghini, retaining the heritage of hand-stitched leather and simplicity of design. Compared to its rival, the Ferrari F430, the Gallardo’s cabin is a well thought out combination of elegance, luxury and simplicity.
The car is supplied with a comprehensive history file including many invoices and receipts, and of course a stamped service book within its book pack, backing up the indicated 27,000 miles. Recently fitted with a new clutch, the car is pin sharp and ready to please its next custodian. Below is a running list of the services to date:
In total, the car has only had three registered keepers, so the two above and one other since 2007. Supplied with both keys, this fabulous Lamborghini with its superb provenance is surely one for the collector.
