MORRIS MINOR GOING FOR A SONG! (or should we say with a song)

AN UNUSUAL OPERA CHARITY THAT BRINGS MUSIC TO HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE RESIDENTS, PATIENTS AND STAFF WILL BENEFIT FROM THE SALE OF A MORRIS MINOR WITH CLASSIC CAR AUCTIONS ON 7TH DECEMBER AT THE WARWICKSHIRE EVENT CENTRE, NR LEAMINGTON SPA.

‘Health:Pitch’ is a charity that was established to help people with mental health issues across a variety of health and care settings, by using Opera in unique ways backed up by solid scientific evidence, as a mood and spirit enhancer.

Set up by former healthcare professional, Camilla Vickers, and originally called Davina’s Fund in memory of her late mother, Camilla works with Italian soprano Francesca Lanza, performing at various care homes, brain injury centres and mental health wards, as well as conferences - most recently for the Royal College of Psychiatrists Future of Adult Psychiatry Conference, on behalf of the charity. Their aim is to help improve mood and connect ‘everyone together in the room’, even those whose lives and minds can be the hardest to reach – and those who care for them. Many of whom have limited or no access to the arts and are unfamiliar with the operatic voice.

Camilla says: “Thus far there have been 80 performances by the group of singers who’ve reached an audience now over 10,000. The idea is to communicate via music and storytelling to reach out to the huge numbers of lonely and mentally challenged people. The response has been heartwarming and overwhelmingly positive for everyone involved. Camilla continues “When professional musicians and singers come in, they lift the spirits of the staff as well as the residents. It brings so much energy and it’s so powerful for everyone. It’s emotional and can really touch residents’ souls and uplift them.”

The group carried out an amazing ‘La Dolce Vita’ tour last summer to raise funds for the charity, and their current show is called Drive. But to help boost funds even further Camilla is now offering her own beloved Morris Minor on behalf of the charity at The Classic Sale by Iconic Auctioneers on December 7th.

Unusually the car comes with a musical bonus - the lot will include a performance by the Opera group as part of the package. So, whoever makes the successful bid on the Morris Minor will also walk away with a gift of music for an evening at a venue of their choice. (Typically ‘Health:Pitch’ perform within 20 miles approx. of Greater London though they could potentially travel further if travel expenses were covered.)

The video link below shows their very first outing some years ago in a community day centre and very clearly just how the Opera Group’s stunning performance enthuses its audience.

Iconic Auctioneers estimate the value of an evening of the opera and the Morris Minor together, at around £5,000 to £15,000. Francesca Lanza, will also perform a short piece prior to the sale of this Charity Lot which is the first car under the hammer at 12 noon on the Warwickshire Exhibition Centre on December 7th.
Gary Dunne, Sales Manager at Iconic Auctioneers says: “We are delighted to be supporting Camilla and ‘Health:Pitch’ with the sale of this car. This combined Lot is offered at No Reserve and all proceeds, including Iconic Auctioneers Premiums and Commissions, will be donated in full to 'Health:Pitch'. With Christmas approaching we hope that people may well feel a little bit of seasonal generosity and support this worthy cause.”
