FIVE FABULOUS FERRARIS INCLUDING SINGER SONGWRITER CHRIS REA’S, IN ICONIC AUCTIONEERS SALE AT THE NEC CLASSIC MOTOR SHOW ON 9TH NOVEMBER.
1980 Ferrari Dino 308 GT4 (Chris Rea Collection). Estimate: £40,000 - £50,000
Fully recommissioned and beautifully presented, this stylish 308 GT4 is on offer directly from Chris Rea's Private Collection with an estimate of £40,000 - £50,000.
The 308 GT4 is one of the few small Ferraris that suit a two-tone colour scheme, Chris' own Ferrari Pirelli Challenge car was red and gold, but in this case he chose to finish it in (we understand) a very stylish Grigio Ferro over Blu Dino Scurro. The Bordeaux Red seating and carpets present beautifully and the refurbished Cromodora alloys are as you would expect from a quality recommission. Unusually, it's one of the very rare cars with 'factory' rear seats 'delete' which may seem strange as the GT4's raison d'etre was the extra seating, however, luggage space in the 308 GT4 was minimal so as a 'touring' car it made sense.
Today, these '70s Ferraris have come of age with their classic looks and brilliant handling and are as fast as you are ever going to need in the real world, with a top speed of over 150mph and 0-60mph in 6.4 seconds. If a more modern model is more your thing then how about this highly desirable California? Introduced at the Paris Salon in 2008, the Ferrari California was conceived as a ‘Grand Tourer’ rather than an out-and-out sports car, and was intended to appeal to those who might otherwise opt for a Bentley, an Aston Martin or an SL-Class Mercedes-Benz.
2011 Ferrari California - Manual, 6,765 miles. Estimate: £240,00 - £320,000
Styled by Pininfarina and subject to over 1,000 hours of wind tunnel testing, the California utilised aluminium for both its chassis and bodywork construction and despite being one of the least expensive models in the range, the California boasts carbon-ceramic disc brakes and a traction control system from the marque's flagship 599. 0-60mph in 3.9 seconds it is less demanding to drive than its siblings and therefore more approachable during every-day motoring.
The car presented is a right-hand-drive, UK-supplied 2011 Ferrari California; supplied new via HR Owen of London. In Argento Nurburgring (101/C) paintwork with a Blu Scuro (Dark Blue/3282) interior (and Grigio Scuro carpeting), it was ordered to a very high specification, including numerous carbon fibre parts (rear moulding, front spoiler, driver zone), plus red brake calipers, coloured (Grigio) seatbelts, and the central tunnel/armrest in leather, there is no doubt this is a very desirable California.
2009 Ferrari 430 Scuderia - 19,652 miles. Estimate: £165,000 - £185,000
Accompanying the 430 is a good history file and with all the handbooks, service books, car covers, two keys and Tracker radar detectors front and rear and the V5C showing two former keepers. The very appropriate, Cherished Registration Number, 430 SCU, will pleasingly remain with the car which will be freshly serviced prior to our NEC Auction.
1978 Ferrari 512 BB. Estimate: £160,000 - £180,000
Fully recommissioned and beautifully presented, this stylish 308 GT4 is on offer directly from Chris Rea's Private Collection with an estimate of £40,000 - £50,000.
2001 Ferrari 360 Modena. Estimate: £48,000 - £58,000
The indicated mileage of 31,484 is supported by a full-service record detailing a major service conducted just over a thousand miles ago which included cam belts, air-conditioning belt and water pump. It is still fitted with the OE equipment Becker Ferrari radio with the original instruction leaflet and comes with a 'Challenge' rear grille, full electric seats and the ‘specified from new’ factory Wing Shields. It was later treated to a Nouvalari sports silencer which just takes the exhaust note under load to a different level!
All of these cars will be available to bid on at the Iconic Sale at the NEC Classic Motor Show on the 9th November. Further information about all the cars can be found at www.iconicauctioneers.com and in-person viewing is available at the NEC Friday 8th 10am to 6pm and on Saturday 9th from 9am until the auction commences at 10am.
