The First and The Last Mercedes Smart Roadster Two Smart Roadsters - an Early Version and One of The Last, a Brabus – for Auction at Warwickshire Event Centre on 7th December
2003 MCC Smart Roadster. Estimate: £10,000 - £12,000
Honest John says of this Mercedes marque: “Cute looks, comfortable ride and good grip. You can raise the hood while driving along. It's a gorgeous little toy. The first time I saw a Smart Roadster was at the unveiling in Berlin in Summer 2002, and I couldn't wait to drive one. The low stance, the mid engine, the paddle change gearbox and the huge tyres sticking out of the sides all said "fun, fun fun".”
This 2003 version above is one of the very first Smart Roadsters sold in the UK by Smart Mercedes, with less than 5,000 miles from new. The Smart Roadster and Roadster Coupé were introduced in 2003, based on a stretched Fortwo platform. The two variants are meant to be reminiscent of British roadsters such as the Triumph Spitfire or the MG B.
The Roadster and its variant, the Roadster Coupé, enjoyed successful sales during their production run. In total, approximately 43,000 units were produced before the model was discontinued in November 2005. The final Smart Roadster built now resides in the Mercedes-Benz Museum.
Stacey Williams the car specialist who consigned the car for this classic car auction said, "We have two Smart Roadsters coming to auction, on the 7th December at the Warwickshire Event Centre near Leamington Spa, one is a very early edition Roadster and the other is this 'Finale' edition both cars have very low milage (circa 5000 miles) from new. Both cars are offered with a very attractive reserve price making them highly desirable collectors pieces representing the beginning and ending of the Smart Roadster production."
2006 Smart Brabus Roadster Final Edition. Estimate: £10,000 - £12,000
Finished in Jack Black and highly specified with heated black leather interior, it sits on upgraded 16" Spikeline alloys.
