SUMMARY

A superb Midget which benefits from a heritage shell.

DESCRIPTION

Background:

Only one motor manufacturer can boast a near 50 year dominance of the 'nippy sports car' market as MG did between the 1920s and the 1970s. Starting with the home-market demand for a reasonably priced convertible, with equal parts optimism and stoicism on the part of the driver, MG led the field both at home and abroad. The Midget moniker was first used with the introduction of the MG M-Type, produced between 1929 and 1932, one of the first genuinely affordable sports cars to be offered by an established manufacturer.

The Car:

This late Midget, fitted with the venerable Triumph 1500 engine, comes from long term ownership, with the current keeper having looked after the car for nearly a decade. Just prior to his purchase, the car was treated to a brand new Heritage shell, bonnet and doors, along with a professional paint job. As such, the car presents in superb condition, with the majority of the structure being a mere ten years old. The hood was replaced at the same time and still looks perfect. The only blemish is a slight bubble of rust on the nearside corner of the bonnet, which is easily sorted.

The interior is in superb condition and presents extremely well, apart from the standard Midget crack on the dashboard. Accompanied by a substantial history file and a tonneau cover, the car is on the button and ready to enjoy and use, with the peace of mind offered by its lovely condition.
