SUMMARY
This true British classic, with remarkably low mileage, is in outstandingly original condition and ready to be a new owner’s pride and joy.
DESCRIPTION
Background:
Made from 1936 to 2018, the 4/4 proudly holds the record as the longest running production vehicle in the world, manufacture only being interrupted by World War II and for a brief period between 1951 and 1955, During its lifetime, engine size increased from the original 1,122cc four-cylinder Coventry Climax power unit to a 1.8-litre Ford by the end of production in 2004. Production was restarted in 2009, with a 1.6-litre Ford Sigma unit, before being finally ended in 2018.
The 4/4 represented the purest Morgan driving experience available, as the entry level into the Morgan range. It was Morgan's first car with four wheels, the name indicating that the model has four wheels and four cylinders. Through a number of upgrades, the 4/4 was continuously nudged along the path of relative modernity, while never losing the very essence of Morgan motoring which kept order books full for much of the 20th century and into the 21st. It is the model everyone pictures when they think of a Morgan.
The Morgan 4/4 is the epitome of timeless British craftsmanship and driving pleasure. With its distinctive design, lightweight frame and agile performance, this car delivers a thrilling drive on the open road.
The car:
This superb example is finished in Morgan Black over a Dubonnet leather interior. It is fitted with Ford’s popular 1,597cc CVH SOHC inline-four, mated to a 5-speed Sierra Type 9 gearbox, giving the car a nice nimble driving experience.
The Morgan 4/4 is famous for its lightweight construction, sporting agility and classic styling that has remained iconic over decades. This model is in excellent condition, with the perfect combination of classic charm and modern reliability.
Beautifully presented with only 19,000 miles on the clock - staggering considering it is 34 years old - the car will come with a full 12 month MOT. Numerous desirable extras are included in the sale, such as a colour-coded roof, tonneau cover, wire wheels including spare wheel, a large history file and two keys.
This car has been carefully maintained and is ready for its next owner to enjoy. For either an enthusiast or a collector, this Morgan 4/4 is a rare gem that will only appreciate with time.
